About the Pilgrimage

Join Father Antonio and the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and experience a journey like no other as we walk in the footsteps of the Servant of God, Sister Clare Crockett. This special pilgrimage, occurring ten years after her passing, invites you to serve the material and spiritual needs of the people of Ecuador, a mission the Home of the Mother has championed since 2003.

The Heart of the Mission: Guayaquil

The Mission Experience – Ten years ago, in the city of Guayaquil, Sister Clare gave her final “All” to God. As featured in the movie All or Nothing, this city is where her missionary heart truly shined. We hope to walk those same streets, serving in soup kitchens, visiting the sick with the Sisters, and providing spiritual and material aid to families through the Home of the Mother missionary projects.

A Sacred Connection: Our Lady of Good Event

A Sacred Connection – Our pilgrimage also takes us to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Event in Quito. This visit holds a deep, “serendipitous” connection for those from Sister Clare’s home: a statue of Our Lady of Good Event has stood atop the Longtower Church in Derry for many years, overlooking the very streets where Clare grew up. We will honor this link between Ireland and Ecuador, seeking Our Lady’s intercession for the mission and for our own spiritual lives.

Trip Highlights & Planning

  • Missionary Work: Helping with projects of the Missionary Groups of the Home of the Mother (MGHM), including visiting the sick and delivering food to needy families.

  • Community Service: Working in children’s soup kitchens and on the Maria Elisabetta Farm.

  • Pastoral Care: Accompanying the Sisters to give Holy Communion to the sick.

  • Spiritual Growth: Daily prayer, evangelization, and spiritual ministry.

Trip Logistics & Planning Suggestions – This mission is a pilgrimage of service and sacrifice. We suggest interested participants consider the following:

  • Limited Capacity: Places are strictly limited. Expressions of interest are welcome, but final confirmation depends on hosting capacity in Ecuador.
  • Travel Expenses: Participants should plan to arrange and cover their own round-trip flight costs.
  • Shared Local Costs: We suggest budgeting for a shared contribution toward minibus rentals and daily food expenses while in the country.
  • Requirements: Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and should contact Father Antonio to discuss safeguarding requirements.
